jalandhar to shimla taxi - tourist and holiday taxi
Holiday packages from Punjab

Tourist taxi from Jalandhar — one driver for the whole trip.

Manali, Shimla, Dharamshala and McLeodganj, Katra, Haridwar and Amritsar — two to five day round trips by road from Jalandhar, Nakodar, Shahkot and Moga.

On a holiday trip the driver matters more than the car. Ours does not change halfway through, so you explain the plan once. Rates are by the day, and a small advance is the only one we ever take.

How a package works

Rates by the day, and the route is yours

We do not sell a fixed itinerary with fixed stops. You tell us the days and the places; the car and driver are yours for that time.

What the package covers

The car, the driver and fuel for the days you book, including the driver’s own food and stay. You are not asked to arrange his room.

Billed at actual

Toll, state permits, and parking at hill stations, against the receipt. Hill permits for Rohtang and similar are extra and we tell you before you go.

What we ask of you

A small advance, because these trips block a car for several days. The balance is paid at the end, in cash or by UPI.

Himachal from Jalandhar

Jalandhar to Shimla, Manali, Dharamshala and Dalhousie — a Punjab tourist taxi service that knows the hill roads

Every one of these is a road our drivers have done in winter as well as summer. Tap a hill station and the WhatsApp message opens with it already written. Distances are approximate and the exact route is confirmed with you before you leave.

Two things decide whether a hill trip is comfortable or exhausting, and neither of them is the car. The first is the driver — a man who has taken the Kiratpur–Bilaspur stretch to Manali fifty times drives it differently from someone reading a map for the first time. The second is that nobody is rushing you to finish so the car can be sent on another job. Our cars go out for the trip, not for the day, so if you want to stop at Manikaran Sahib for langar on the way to Kasol, that is your call, not a negotiation.

Winter changes the plan and we will tell you so honestly. Rohtang and Atal Tunnel access depends on the day. Shimla and Manali in late December are booked out and the roads are slow. If your dates are tight, we will say what is realistic rather than take the booking and disappoint you on the mountain.

Darshan circuits

Chintpurni, Jwala Ji, Naina Devi and Katra — the Devi circuit most Doaba families ask for

Most families do the three Devi temples in one long day and Katra as an overnight. Elders travel in these cars often, so the driver knows to stop when somebody needs to.

The Devi circuit is the trip we get asked for most often, and it is almost never one person travelling. It is a mother, an aunt, a couple of children and somebody’s grandmother, and the whole day turns on small things: whether the driver knows where the car can wait near Chintpurni, whether he will carry the bags up to the ropeway, whether he minds waiting an extra forty minutes because the queue was long. Those are the parts nobody writes on a website. They are also the reason the same families call us again the next year.

Our cars

Which car for a hill trip

On a hill road, boot space matters more than seat count. Tell us how many people and how many bags, and we will tell you honestly which car will be comfortable rather than sell you the bigger one.

For four adults with normal luggage going to Shimla or Dharamshala, the Dzire is enough. For a family of six with suitcases, or anything past Kullu, take the Innova — the extra ground clearance and the boot are worth it on those roads. Two families travelling together, or a jatha going for darshan, fit best in the Tempo Traveller. It is one fare for the group instead of two cars, and everyone stays together at every stop.

For families coming from abroad

Planning the family holiday from Canada, the UK or Australia — before you land

You are booking a car for people you love, in a country you left years ago, from eight thousand miles away. Here is exactly how it works so nothing is a surprise when you arrive.

You can plan the whole trip on WhatsApp before your flight. Send us the dates and the places from wherever you are. We reply with one fixed quote for the whole trip — not a per-kilometre estimate that grows on the last day. No advance, no card, no deposit. You pay the driver at the end, in India, in cash or by UPI, whichever suits you.

The driver is from here, and so are we. Waheguru Taxi Service runs out of Malsian in Shahkot tehsil, Jalandhar district. This is not a call centre routing your booking to whoever is nearest. If your parents are in a village off the Nakodar road and the address is “behind the gurdwara, ask for Balbir Singh’s house”, that is an address our driver can find. He will call from the turning rather than cancel.

Time zones do not matter. Message us at two in the morning your time. You will have an answer when you wake up, and the same number stays with you for the whole holiday — not a new driver and a new number every day.

The same car, the whole trip. Families flying in for three weeks usually want one car and one driver for the whole stay: airport pickup, the village, the Devi circuit, a few days in Himachal, weddings in between, and back to Delhi or Amritsar for the flight home. That is our normal way of working, not a special arrangement. The driver learns your family — who needs the front seat, who gets car sick on the hill roads, which chacha ji always wants tea at Phagwara.

If plans change, they change. Holidays in Punjab never run to the plan written in December. A cousin’s function gets added, somebody wants an extra day at Katra, the flight moves. Tell the driver. We will adjust the quote fairly and tell you the new figure before you agree to it — never afterwards.

FAQ

Holiday package questions

How many days should I keep for Manali from Jalandhar?

Three days is workable and four is comfortable. The drive is about 430 km and takes nine to ten hours in each direction, so a two day trip means most of it is spent in the car.

Will the same driver stay for the whole trip?

Yes. On holiday packages the driver does not change — whoever arrives on day one drives the entire trip. You explain the plan once.

Is the driver’s stay and food included?

Yes, that is in the package. You do not need to book a room for him or add anything at the end.

Do I have to pay an advance for a holiday package?

Yes, a small one — this is the only booking where we ask for it, because the car is blocked for several days. Everything else on this site is no advance.

Can we change the plan while we are travelling?

Within reason, yes. If you want an extra stop or a different route on the way back, tell the driver. If it adds a day, that is charged at the daily rate and we agree it before, not after.

Which car suits a hill trip?

For the hills we usually suggest an Ertiga or an Innova Crysta — more comfortable on long climbs and better with luggage. A Tempo Traveller works for 12 to 17 travelling together.

Can you combine a hill trip with darshan?

Yes, and people often do. Amritsar on the way to or from the hills, or Sultanpur Lodhi and Nakodar as a day added to the start.

Which are the best hill stations to visit from Jalandhar by taxi?

Dharamshala and McLeodganj at about 200 km, Dalhousie at about 195 km and Kangra at about 180 km are all comfortable one-night trips. Shimla is about 260 km and Manali about 330 km, so keep three days minimum for either. Kasauli at about 235 km is the easiest short break. All distances are approximate and depend on the route we take on the day.

How far is Jalandhar to Manali by road and how long does it take?

About 330 km, and a realistic eight hours with the Kiratpur–Bilaspur four-lane, plus stops. Leaving Jalandhar by six in the morning gets a family into Manali by mid afternoon. In the December–February season allow longer, and in heavy snow we will tell you before you set out rather than after.

Can you do Chintpurni, Jwala Ji and Naina Devi in one day?

Yes. It is a long day — leave Jalandhar around five in the morning and expect to be back late evening — but families do it with us regularly. If there are elders travelling, we usually suggest splitting it across two days with a night at Chintpurni, and we will say so honestly rather than let you find out on the road.

Do you go to Katra for Maa Vaishno Devi from Jalandhar?

Yes, about 280 km and roughly six hours. Most families go one evening, do the yatra the next day and return the day after. The driver stays in Katra with the car, so you are not looking for transport at the bhawan or the helipad.

Is a Jalandhar to Shimla taxi one way or round trip?

Both. Plenty of people take a one way taxi to Shimla and come back by train or with family, and plenty keep the car for the days they are there. Say which when you message and the quote reflects it — there is no penalty for choosing one way.

Does the fare change if we add a stop?

If it is a small detour on the same route, no. If it adds a day or a serious distance, we tell you the new figure on WhatsApp before you agree to it. What we do not do is add anything at the end of the trip that was not agreed at the start.

Do you cover Spiti, Kasol and Manikaran Sahib?

Yes. Manikaran Sahib is about 350 km and a common add-on to Manali or Kasol. Spiti needs seven days minimum and the right car, and we will only take the booking in the months when the passes are actually open.

Can NRI families book the whole holiday before landing in India?

Yes, and most of ours do. Send the dates and the places on WhatsApp from Canada, the UK, Australia or wherever you are. You get one fixed quote for the whole trip, you pay nothing in advance, and the same driver and the same number stay with you for the entire stay.

Will the driver know the way to Himachal temples and gurdwaras?

Our drivers run these routes through the year, not once a season. They know where a car can actually park at Chintpurni, which gate is easier at Jwala Ji, and the timings at Naina Devi. If they do not know something, they will say so and find out rather than guess with your family in the car.

Can we combine a holiday with a wedding or a family function?

Very often that is the whole trip — a wedding in Jalandhar or Moga, a few days in the hills before or after, and airport runs at both ends. Keeping one car and one driver across all of it is simpler and works out better than booking each leg separately.
